The Best Dentists In Rancho Bernardo

We all know how much a good dentist is important in everyone’s life and how choosing the wrong one can be a stressful and horrible experience. It is not an easy decision, choosing a dentist, simply because letting someone to mess around with your teeth is a serious business. The wrong decision could have bad consequences not only for your health, but also for your budget. This is the reason why we decided to make a list of the best dentists in Rancho Bernardo, San Diego (CA).

It is obvious that we have a lot of excellent dentists in San Diego, and that many of them deserve our trust. At the same time, we have a bunch of docs that are just calling themselves dentists because they are, in fact, gold diggers and businessmen, which are more focused on our money and insurance, not our health. And this is why making this list is a priority for me.

However, this is surely not a definitive, 100% perfect list. We have neither moral right nor the expertise for something like that. This is a matter of the profession, not public opinion. At the same time, we surely have the right to declare the best ones based on the experiences of various patients and the level of their satisfaction.

What were the criteria for this shortlist? There are a couple of them:

  • professionalism and honesty

  • prices

  • appointment process

  • chair side manners

  • stuff and environment

1. Pham Gem, DDS

Address: 15708 Pomerado Rd Ste 103 Poway, CA 92064

Phone: (858) 385-9295

If you are a fan of hi-tech devices, LED ceiling, stereo surround system, exotic snacks, 3D animation or something like that, you probably should not go to the Dr. Pham. However, if you want honest, professional and caring dentist rather than super-fancy-robot, that Dr. Pham will be the perfect choice. This doc just likes to keep all things simple, which is the reason why he doesn’t need to charge extra for the luxury and glam at his office. He is 100% focused on patients and their problems.

One of the best things about Dr. Pham is that he is extremely honest. He isn’t one of those docs that pressure patients for the unnecessary and expensive procedures. This doc will do X-rays or other minor tasks by himself and he will explain everything you ask him, no matter how important your question is. At the same time, do not be surprised if he calls you just to check how you are feeling or to remind you about something.

Just for the record – when we visited Dr. Pham recently, the pricelist was a little bit higher. However, he is still one of the most affordable in the whole San Diego. For example, you can get X-rays, cleaning or polishing with exam for $120.00.

All those who have problems with the crowns or just need one, Dr. Keith would definitely be the great choice. Why? Simply because he has his own device for making crowns. This is very important for several reasons. The first one is quality. The second one is that whole process lasts for a couple of hours only. That is just great when compared with the other docs, where you need to wait for your new crowns for a couple of weeks.

He is very expedite and fast and have all advanced technology you can imagine. The great thing is that this dentist sends all necessary information via e-mail or SMS.

Dr. Keith is not the most affordable option, but he is far from being the most expensive. X-ray, cleaning and consultation costs $228.

Even the biggest dentofobs forget about their fears in her clean and well-arranged office. She just knows how to talk with her patients. The children just love her.

The best thing about Dr. Troung is that schedule and appointment are functioning without any mistakes. People like to say that in Signature Dental there is no waiting, which is such a great thing.

If you have any doubts about the insurance stuff, you can always ask whatever you like and the staff will explain everything you want to know.

Dr. Bortoluzzi from the RGB Dental is one of those great docs who prefer “the less is better” philosophy. That means he would not recommend you any kind of procedure that would be harmful for your teeth in the future. He will try everything to save your teeth in every possible way. He likes to say that one drilled tooth will not be the same again and everything that dentist does today, has to be repaired in the future. This is the reason why he will give you the best advices to save your teeth as much as possible. He also would not offer you some expensive and unnecessary procedures.

Dr. Bertoluzzi’s patients just adore him because, according to their statements, all his procedures are 100% pain-free.

In his office, he has an arsenal of all possible modern devices and his staff is very knowledgeable and informed about all kinds of health insurances.

According to them, Dr. Borukhova is definitely a caring dentist and she always checks upon her patients.

How to control Dental Phobia

Till now we discussed about how people suffer from anxiety and phobia in the name of dental check up. In this section we will discuss some of the methods and ways to reduce the phobia of visiting a dentist.

Selecting a dentist: A very important step would be to select the right dentist by carefully consulting friends, family members and colleagues. One must not be quick to select the first available dental clinic in the neighborhood. A kind hearted and compassionate dentist can do a lot to reduce the anxiety of visiting a dentist.

Application of sedation: If the patient is too anxious or feels that he won’t be able to bear the pain, the dentist in turn might not find it easy to do something like extracting a tooth. In such scenarios, the dentist might decide to use oral, inhalation or intravenous sedation before commencing his procedure. It is always advised by the dentist not to drive and preferably come with someone else as he or she might need support for a few hours post the use of sedation.

Use of general Anesthesia: Rarely though, but it might so happen that small children or people suffering from special ailments might have to go through complicated dental procedures. In such situations, general anesthesia might be used by the dentist. However one must remember that a dentist would only use general anesthesia only in the rarest cases and as a last resort if no other alternative exists before him or her.

dental anxietyTo maintain a calm disposition: While this might not seem to be an easy proposition, as often people find the sound coming from dental equipments adding up to the anxiety and phobia one might be feeling, there is a solution to maintain a calm disposition during the dental procedure. The patient can carry an IPod or an easy to carry music system and listen to some soothing music to shut down the sound of the dental equipments.

Different Types of Toothache

One of the common problems faced by the patients after dental filling is toothache. This might happen as the sensitivity of the filled tooth increases after it is filled. In fact the pain might aggravate so one should be aware of how to reduce the pain which we would try to discuss in this post.

Recommendation by the dentist to get the tooth filled up might be given for curing the tooth which might have got damaged due to decay. Filling of the tooth will ensure the prevention of tooth decay and to ensure that the tooth’s normal shape and function is restored. It is not uncommon to have a tooth ache after it has been filled by the dentist. Toothache ranging from mild to severe velocity is often experienced by many people after their tooth are filled up. It has been observed that the tooth which has been filled has become very sensitive to various elements like cold and sweet foods, pressure, air etc. However it has been also observed that generally the sensitivity as well as the tooth aches gets cured automatically within a few weeks time.

Types of Toothache

Types of Toothache

There are various types of toothache after the tooth is filled up. We would be discussing some of these in this section.

Pain around the filled up tooth: One must immediately consult his or her dentist if one feels the increase in pain around the tooth filling area. The root cause of this would be because the tooth’s cavity was not filled up properly.

Pain while biting: One might experience this type of pain when one bites the food. This type of pain is generally experienced after the effect of anesthesia has worn off and this type of pain might persist for some time. The reason for such immediate pain after biting food might be because the tooth filling was not shaped in a proper manner. Biting onto something puts pressure because the tooth feeling then interferes with the bite made.

Pain when teeth come in contact with one another: This pain occurs when the two teeth come in contact with each other. The reason for this type of pain is two metal surfaces touch each other. Usually this type of pain gets cured on its own automatically but if they don’t, one should immediately consult his or her dentist.

Referred toothache: In this type of tooth ache, the patient feels the pain in the tooth besides the one which has been filled. In such cases, it means that the tooth has been filled up properly and this type of pain gets cured on its own.

Constant toothache: When the decay’s depth reaches till the pulp of the tooth, one might experience toothache constantly particularly when one eats and it might persist for a few weeks after the tooth is filled. However this type if constant toothache indicates that the tissue has become unhealthy and one needs to get it cured by doing a root canal procedure.

tooth aching

The toothache after a tooth filling generally lessens within a week or a fortnight. One should not panic if one experiences mild tooth ache after filling which is nothing to worry about. If the toothache does not subside within this period, one must then consult the dentist to get it cured,

We’re just going to make several bulletins here, it will be easier to remember all these tips.

  • Schedule a consultation – It’s a good way to see what your new dentist is like, what kind of clinic he works in, how difficult it is to get an appointment and what are the emergency hours.
  • What’s the ambiance like – The clinic has to be child-friendly. Play area, funny images and child-sized chairs and furniture is what you want to see.
  • What can occupy your child there? – We all know how easily children can get bored. But a TV with cartoons on, books, toys or some games can occupy the kids and let them relax.
  • Dentist’s interaction with the child – Observe how your and other kids respond to the dentist. Can he/she make them comfortable, calm them if they cry?
  • What about the staff – Are they friendly? Do they notice your child, do they help in feeling him/her at ease?
  • Is your new dentist a listener – How well does he/she respond to your questions and concerns.
  • Preparing the child – Before any procedure takes place, a dentist should talk with the child and build up trust. It’s a good way to relax the child and explain to him/her what is going to happen during the procedure.
  • Establishing a bond – Talking with children in an age-appropriate manner is very important. Children will be more eager to follow any recommendations or oral hygiene regimen.
  • Giving demonstrations – Children will easily learn how to brush and floss teeth if the dentist gives the demonstration first.
  • Educating kids and parents both – Many dental issues are easily avoided if the pediatric dentist takes time to talk with the parents and children. Telling them what they need to take care about or warning them about the dangers of soda drinks and certain foods is how many dental problems can be avoided.

If you’re living in a Rancho Bernardo area, give your local dentist a call and make an appointment. Consultation is where it all starts so take it from there.
